veil is pre-release and built by one person. This log tracks real, dated decisions and changes — not a marketing timeline with invented version numbers.

2026-07-28 platform scope
  • macOS and Android dropped from the support matrix, not deferred. macOS can't be built or signed without Apple hardware; unrooted Android can't read firewall state, IPv6 routing, or the Wi-Fi MAC — most of what veil checks.
  • Linux and Windows are now the only declared platforms. support-matrix.json is the single source of truth the app, site, and docs all read from.
  • Fixed a rendering bug where the Canvas2D and WebGL layers of the network graph and globe scenes both painted the same object, doubling them up visually.
2026-07-24 pricing model
  • Paywall model changed: free now includes checks, score, and 2–3 of the simplest fixes (encrypted DNS, MAC randomization, encrypted messaging); plus covers the remaining fixes plus automation.
  • Plus priced at €18, one-time, paid in Monero directly to the developer's own wallet — no card processor, no subscription.
  • Broadened init-system and package-manager detection: systemd, OpenRC, runit, s6, dinit, sysvinit; apt, dnf, pacman, emerge, zypper, apk, xbps, nix.
  • Added a revert-all safety script — generates a commented, reversible shell script plus a how-to for anything veil applied.
2026-07-23 security pass
  • Server hardened: connection timeout against slow-loris, Origin header check on POST requests, directory listing disabled, response-size cap on network probes.
  • Tiers finalized: free is the honest auditor, plus is one-time-purchase automation — the tier field on a fix gates capability, not knowledge.

This log will keep being dated and specific as the app moves toward a first public release. No entry above claims a shipped feature that isn't real.
